About RICERP
The Rhode Island Center for Eating Recovery & Performance (RICERP) was founded by Jennifer Nadeau, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist who has long been dedicated to the treatment of individuals with eating disorders.
Through years of clinical work, Dr. Nadeau recognized a clear and unmet need in Rhode Island: a comprehensive center dedicated specifically to the evaluation and treatment of eating disorders, where patients could access coordinated, specialized care close to home.
Â
Dr. Nadeau brings a unique combination of psychiatric expertise and psychoanalytic thought to her work, allowing her to treat the whole person — not just the symptoms. This approach considers the psychological, relational, and physiological dimensions of an eating disorder, recognizing that lasting recovery requires understanding the full person behind the diagnosis.
Â
RICERP was built on this philosophy: that effective treatment is comprehensive, individualized, and grounded in genuine clinical depth.

RICERP Approach
At RICERP, treatment is never one-size-fits-all. Every individual who walks through our doors brings a unique history, body, and relationship with food — and their care plan should reflect that.
Drawing on psychiatric expertise and psychoanalytic thought, Dr. Nadeau and the RICERP team look beyond symptoms to understand the deeper patterns driving disordered eating. This means treatment addresses not just what a person eats, but why — the emotional, relational, and psychological forces at play.

We work as a multidisciplinary team, integrating psychiatry, therapy, and nutrition counseling so that medical, emotional, and behavioral needs are treated together rather than in isolation. The result is care that is comprehensive, evidence-based, and built around the whole person — not just their diagnosis.
Our goal is simple: lasting recovery, not just symptom management.
